WHAT IS ALTITUDE SICKNESS?
We are so glad you asked! Denver is known as the "Mile High City" since the altitude is 5,280 ft above sea level. We are aiming for all guests to arrive happy and hydrated - but altitude sickness affects about 20% of travelers. Here is what you need to know:
Altitude Sickness is often characterized by the symptoms of:
• headaches
• nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
• difficulty sleeping
• loss of appetite
• fatigue
• shortness of breath
AND HOW DO I AVOID THE AFOREMENTIONED AWFUL SOUNDING ALTITUDE SICKNESS?
Water, water, water - drink 2-3x as much water as you usually do the day before traveling, while traveling, and while you are in CO.
• Eat foods high in potassium - foods such as broccoli, bananas, avocado, celery, greens, bran, chocolate will help you replenish electrolytes by balancing salt intake.
• Limit caffeine and alcohol for the first day. There is a saying that golf balls go about 10% further in Colorado, and your alcohol intake goes even further!
• Take it easy physically - your ability to breath is lower at altitude, think 3 mile run instead of a 5 mile run.
WILL TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM THE HOTELS BE PROVIDED?
Yes! Check back for details as we continue to plan!
